Situated next to the Croydon water bridge, the Croydon church was built with the help of Italian and French engineers. The church is believed to have been built around Arundel House which was a famous palace located next to the church. This may be one of the oldest churches in Croydon and it is believed that it was built around the same time when the Saxons came to the area. This may also be the reason why there are only two Old Churches in Croydon, these are St. Ann’s and St. Crisp’s Church.

The other six archbishops of Croydon are Cardinal Henry VIII, Archbishops Sir Philip Sidney, John Fisher, Roger Rivers, and Sir Walter Ralegh, who were the most powerful archbishops in England at the time. Although there is no solid archaeological evidence to prove that this is the case, there are other evidences to suggest that this was the case. The present day archbishops are keen on preserving their old age origins and are working very diligently to preserve their rich history. The Croydon church is unique in many aspects, as it is the only one of its kind in the entire country. There are a few interesting facts about this church such as the fact that it is listed as a protected site by the National Trust. There are also many interesting historical artifacts which you can see and which tell us a lot about the past of Croydon.
